The Role

The purpose of the Community Scholarship Scheme is to invest in further education initiatives for individuals within our direct communities. The scheme supports top students from the community to obtain tertiary education in any field of study at a recognised and registered Higher Education and Training Institution (mainstream South African University or the University of Technology).

Application requirements (Who can apply?)
  • Current Grade 12 learners that have been provisionally accepted for study at a registered Higher Education Training Institution (HET) for 2026
  • University students that are currently studying towards a Degree/Diploma in any discipline and any year of study at a registered HET
  • Sponsorship is available for accredited courses only (courses that meet the standard of the (NQF) National Qualifications Framework, from Level 6)
  • Specific focus will be placed on students from our communities
  • Most recent results
  • No bridging or foundation programs/courses will be sponsored
  • Selection is based on previous results, the academic excellence of the applicant and the financial need of applicant
Requirements
  • Applicants must be a South African Citizen
  • Certified copy of the most recent Grade 12 report/Matric Certificate/Academic Record of the previous academic year
  • Brief CV
  • Letter of provisional acceptance or proof of 2026 registration issued by an accredited mainstream University or University of Technology
  • Proof of residence (copy of municipal water & lights, or a letter from a Council member or Chief)
Value Of Bursary
  • Tuition fee payment for 2026 (excluding the previous year’s failed subjects/modules and any outstanding tuition fees and interest charged)
  • Accommodation and meal allowance
  • Pocket money
  • Book allowance
  • Once-off allowance for a laptop
Terms & Conditions
  • Final contract is dependent on the official registration for the 2026 academic year
  • Student must pass all subjects, failed subjects are not sponsored
  • Seriti has no obligation to provide vacation work or Internship opportunities
  • No work-back obligation for students upon completion of their studies
  • Students studying a bridging course, or are in a foundation year are not eligible to apply
  • Preference will be given to the local community
  • Must study full‑time
  • Applicants that are beneficiaries of any other sponsorship program are not eligible for this sponsorship
