The role involves overseeing a small team, delivering CSP expertise to project sites, and crafting pragmatic solutions at the intersection of land access, host community relations, cultural heritage protection, and local development benefits.

Reporting to the General Manager – CSP, the CSP Manager will operate in a challenging environment within CSP and will be responsible for strategic CSP guidance within the AER senior leadership team (SLT).

What You'll Do

Provide advice and strategic planning to exploration teams on CSP matters, including social risk identification and management across multiple countries, with emphasis on land access, dialogue and agreement‑making with host communities, community benefits, security and human rights, and related social and environmental issues (e.g., water or tailings management).

Offer technical advice and management support for CSP personnel working with the AER Generative and Technical Team and country / project leadership to reconcile project timelines with CSP objectives.

In collaboration with the Exploration Director for AER and the global GM for CSP, develop regional CSP strategy and oversee country- and project-level CSP planning to align with project goals and integrate risk‑based CSP considerations into planning and timelines.

Identify and implement innovative approaches to promote CSP objectives across RTX, including knowledge sharing with non-CSP personnel and developing a CSP technical community.

Lead and / or supervise New Country Entry and screening / due diligence processes on CSP issues in the AER.

What You'll Bring

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant discipline.

8–10 years of relevant CSP experience, plus 3–4 years of experience managing others.

Experience with CSP-related issues in Africa‑Eurasia, with emphasis on community‑level operational roles and group-level CSP matters in sub‑Saharan Africa.

First‑hand CSP experience in multiple settings in the region; expertise with rural or traditional, land-connected communities is highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to lead multicultural / multilingual teams at strategic and operational levels.

Strong English communication skills (written and spoken); professional fluency in Portuguese and / or French is advantageous.

Experience in managing social risks and performance through a structured management system is valued.

Commitment to safety, sustainability, and Rio Tinto's core values of care, courage, and curiosity.

A work environment where safety is the number‑one priority.

Leave for all of life's reasons (vacation / annual, paid parental, sick leave).
