Overview

Purpose of the Role: Drive strategic sourcing excellence in Mining & Manufacturing. Join our Strategic Sourcing team within the Finance Department in Roodepoort and play a pivotal role in powering industry. Reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager, you will lead sourcing strategies that deliver measurable business impact, optimise costs, enhance supplier performance, and create sustainable value for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing detailed understanding and insight of assigned category to support category related business requirements.
  • Developing and executing category solutions by overseeing category specific sourcing projects including: development, implementation and evaluation of the solicitation, negotiation preparation and execution, contract award and implementation and supplier management
  • Collecting, developing and maintaining intellectual capital related to strategic sourcing of the categories
  • Championing strategic sourcing initiatives within the business
  • Negotiating with Key Suppliers
  • Managing Supplier adoption (Qualification) process
  • Providing inputs in Capex preparations for all votes that needs Exco approval
  • Assisting in tender evaluation and recommendation on preferred vendors
  • Managing and updating contracts towards win-win solutions in line with fair competition guidelines
  • Developing and implementing agreed commodity and supplier performance measurement in contracts
  • Reviewing, evaluating and improving supplier and company performance to achieve optimal TCO (positive and negative)
  • Ensuring saving targets and KPI are achieved for portfolio of commodities.
Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Knowledge & Experience – Mandatory

  • Business/Commercial/Technical related Degree
  • CPM, CIPS or Sapics will be advantageous
  • Commercial/technical experience of at least 6 years plus 3 years strategic sourcing experience in a heavy duty engineering/mining/manufacturing
  • Experience in energy, logistics, maintenance, repairs and operations (MRO), raw materials will be advantageous
  • Key negotiations and contract management related to key suppliers and high spend commodities
  • Stock strategies and processes for different types of inventory management
  • Spend analysis and commodity matrix management
  • Knowledge of SAP with emphasis on material management
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to develop solid and creative sourcing skills
  • Presentation skills, assertive communications and negotiations skills
