Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal commercial property insurance business according to company guidelines and appetite.
• Analyze financial statements, risk surveys, and other relevant data to assess property risks.
• Determine appropriate terms, conditions, pricing, and coverage levels for commercial property policies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to foster business development.
• Monitor the performance of assigned portfolios and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with claims and risk control departments to ensure integrated risk management.
• Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes impacting commercial property insurance.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior underwriters and support staff.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting policies and procedures.

Requirements

• A relevant degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial property underwriting.
• Demonstrated understanding of commercial property construction, hazards, and risk assessment techniques.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen.
• Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in underwriting systems and MS Office Suite.
• A professional qualification such as ACII or equivalent is advantageous.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment in our George office.
