A leading construction and infrastructure company in South Africa seeks a Commercial Manager to oversee commercial strategies, drive revenue growth, and manage client relationships. The ideal candidate will hold a B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying and have 8 years of experience in a similar role. Strong negotiation and analytical skills are essential, alongside proficiency in sales and financial analysis tools.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the commercial aspects of a business, with the primary goal of driving revenue growth and maximizing profitability.
Develop and implement commercial strategies: Identify and evaluate new business opportunities and potential markets. Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends and competitors. Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new markets and expand the customer base. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align commercial strategies with overall business goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Identify and pursue new sales opportunities, negotiate contracts, and close deals. Monitor and analyze sales performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions. Develop and implement effective pricing strategies to maximize profitability. Monitor and analyze financial data, sales figures, and market trends to assess performance and identify opportunities. Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights and recommendations. Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and other business partners. Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all commercial activities. Mitigate risks and resolve any contractual disputes or issues that may arise.
B.Sc. in Quantity Surveying or a related qualification. Proven 8 years experience in a similar commercial management role, preferably within the same industry. Strong business acumen and understanding of market dynamics. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions. Leadership and team management skills. Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for sales and financial analysis.
