Job summary

Virago Recruitment is seeking an Attorney specializing in Commercial Law in Pretoria. The role demands hands-on ownership of matters, direct client interaction, and the ability to work with limited supervision.

You will draft and negotiate commercial agreements, provide corporate legal guidance, and support litigation as needed. The position is full-time, based in Muckleneuk, Pretoria, with an ASAP start and a monthly remuneration of R20,000.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of SA with at least 1 year post-admission experience.
• Experience in Commercial Law is essential.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and contracts.
• Experience providing corporate and commercial legal advice.
• Exposure to general commercial litigation support.
• Ability to manage matters with limited supervision.
• Comfortable dealing directly with clients and stakeholders.
• Strong drafting and legal research skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain own commercial law files from instruction through to completion.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and contracts.
• Provide practical legal advice to clients on commercial and corporate matters.
• Assist clients with general corporate and commercial legal requirements.
• Conduct legal research and provide advice on relevant legislation and case law.
• Draft legal opinions, correspondence, notices and other legal documentation.
• Assist with commercial litigation matters, including drafting and preparation of relevant documentation.
• Liaise directly with clients and provide regular updates regarding their matters.
• Communicate with opposing attorneys, counsel, companies and other relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor deadlines and ensure that matters progress efficiently.
• Attend to the day-to-day management and administration of own files.
• Identify potential legal and commercial risks and provide appropriate advice to clients.
• Ensure that all work is completed accurately, professionally and within required timeframes.
