This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.

Job Description
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Assist Commercial Advisor in breakdown of financial targets down to site work areas
  • Provide operational support to the budgeting process on site, collating budget inputs and supplying analyses on behalf of Commercial Advisor and Commercial Finance Specialists
  • Collate financial forecasts by the disciplines
  • Support consolidation of risk registers across disciplines
  • Supply reports to facilitate transparent communication of risks
  • Provide operational support for site financial audit
  • Collate discipline financial inputs across disciplines, on behalf of Commercial Advisor
  • Draft effective financial reports (supported by GSS) & analyses, in line with Valterra standards
  • Support post investment reviews by Commercial Advisor
  • Petty cash management
  • Support implementation of Commercial improvement initiatives (e.g., dashboard roll-out)
  • Feedback improvement needs and ideas (e.g., in financial systems) to CM
  • Prepare business cases and sensitivity analyses for improvement opportunities
  • Support quantification of financial impact of improvement measures
  • Supply required information/input data to GSS / fin. CoE
  • Validate received output from GSS (e.g., standard reports) before further processing
  • Support a purpose-led, high performing culture, applying the company values and principles of inclusion and diversity
    • Act as a role model and actively engage as a team member in all team processes, including feedback
    • Provide input for draft of communication materials, understand the operation's goals and directions Compliance
  • Adhere to external local compliance requirements as a minimum level of site performance
  • Adhere to Anglo American compliance requirements and ensure compliance of team
  • Adhere to compliance governance within the team
  • Conduct site inspections to identify and elevate non-compliance
  • Implement required actions
  • Conduct investigation of incidents (safety, health, environmental and social) within work area
  • Follow appropriate process and establish root cause
  • Identify, report on and elevate incidents in proper and timely fashion
  • Close out incidents, capture and implement learnings
  • Share learnings within team

This role is at a Band 7 level reporting to the Commercial Advisor

Qualifications Section
  • Tertiary qualifications within Business Accounting, Finance, Economics. Management
Experience required and Technical Knowledge
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the Accounting field:
  • Knowledge of operational processes within scope of role.
  • Understand the overall AA data lifecycle, pertaining to Data Policy principles. Awareness of key digital tools and concepts that are relevant to their roles.
  • Knowledge of management accounting principles and Management: Risk management techniques and critical controls.
  • Compliance: Safety, health and environment, legislative, statutory and regulatory permitting requirements.
