Our client is a leading e-commerce business that curates and optimizes online deals for maximum revenue impact. The Merchandising team ensures the online shop window is strategically optimized, using data-driven insights to enhance revenue and customer engagement.

Purpose of the Role

Commercial Analyst plays a critical role in managing and optimizing email performance to drive profitability. This position involves using analytical skills to assess deal performance, execute strategic email campaigns, and support the broader merchandising function to ensure effective deal exposure and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze deals launched on the website against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assess email location and tier performance to inform strategic decision‑making.
  • Develop exposure strategies to maximize visibility and revenue.
  • Plan daily email orders, ensuring a balanced mix of key categories and seasonal trends while preventing deal fatigue.
  • Schedule and manage paid slots for featured deals.
  • Ensure balanced deal exposure across offsite platforms to optimize engagement.
  • Manage email segmentation and personalize content for targeted audience engagement.
  • Work closely with CRM teams to leverage A/B testing for email performance optimization.
  • Provide analytical insights on email strategy based on subscriber behavior.
  • Support the automation and innovation of email marketing strategies.
  • Provide feedback to Sales and Analytics teams regarding deal performance and opportunities.
  • Monitor personalization efforts and propose improvements to enhance engagement.

  • Knowledge of SQL and Power BI is advantageous but not required.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience in online catalog management, preferably in e-commerce businesses such as Takealot, Amazon, Big Daddy, Google, or Wowcher.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience, with at least two years of tenure at previous employers.
  • A dynamic, data‑driven individual with a passion for e-commerce and digital merchandising.
  • Fluent in English with strong communication skills.
  • Must be under 35 years old and available to start immediately.
  • Must be based in Cape Town, as only Cape Town residents will be considered.
  • UK working hours to align with the London office.
  • Hybrid work model: Monday to Thursday in-office, Fridays work-from-home.
  • Leave entitlement: 20 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays.
