ROLE SUMMARY :
  • Reddam House Bedfordview, part of Inspired Education Group, is seeking an experienced and passionate Music Teacher (Grades 6–12) to join our school from January 2026. The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring students to develop their musical ability and creativity, contributing to a vibrant performing arts culture within the school.
  • The role requires a dedicated educator who promotes the holistic development and well‑being of each student while maintaining high academic and artistic standards. The ideal candidate will bring energy, innovation, and a genuine passion for music education.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging Music lessons.
  • Establish a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that promotes active participation and creativity.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in punctuality, preparation, and classroom standards.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine teaching practice to ensure student progress.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice.
  • Conduct extra lessons when required, typically on two afternoons per week.
  • Produce high‑quality teaching resources and materials.
  • Respond to parent communications within 24 hours in a professional manner.
  • Support and uphold the ethos, values, and expectations of Reddam House.
  • Attend school functions and special events as required by the Head of School.
  • Set, mark, and moderate assessments, examinations, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Write detailed and accurate student report comments.
  • Manage and oversee the peripatetic music programme.
  • Undertake any additional reasonable tasks as directed by the Head of School or line manager.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE :
  • A university degree in a relevant subject area.
  • Certified Teaching Status and SACE registration.
  • At least 5 years’ experience teaching Music to school‑age students.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and engage students through dynamic, creative teaching.
  • Experience teaching within the IEB curriculum.
  • Confidence and competence in the use of ICT for teaching and learning.
  • Strong organisational and classroom management skills.
  • A positive attitude towards collaboration, growth, and change.
  • A commitment to student development and well‑being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Appropriate right to work in South Africa.
