PART-TIME LECTURER: FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT & ACCOUNTING

Job Purpose

To facilitate effective teaching and learning within the Accounting and Financial Management modules through high-quality lectures, student support, academic administration, and continuous content improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging lectures (online and/or on campus) in Financial Management and/or Accounting.
  • Prepare academic content, lecture materials, and LMS resources.
  • Mark assessments and provide constructive, timely feedback.
  • Analyse student performance at modular level to identify trends and areas requiring support.
  • Conduct student consultations and offer holistic academic support, including interventions for at-risk students.
  • Assist with assessment development in alignment with Central Academic Team (CAT) guidelines.
  • Monitor student engagement, participation, and assessment submissions.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of module content and teaching practice.
Minimum qualifications
  • Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in a business-related field for Financial Management
  • Honours Degree in Accounting (with Accounting, Taxation & Cost Accounting up to 3rd year) for Accounting modules.
  • 1–3 years lecturing or tutoring experience in a higher education environment.
  • 1–3 years industry experience in Accounting, Financial Management, Financial Advisory, Asset Management, or related fields.
Key Competencies
  • Strong understanding of South African higher education systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of Teaching-Learning theory, assessment methods, and student support strategies.
  • Ability to use and adapt to digital academic platforms (e.g., LMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
