Job summary

A leading food manufacturing company is seeking a Cold Store Storeman for a part-time temporary role in Springs, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for stacking and storing goods, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting inventory management. Candidates should have a Grade 12 qualification, a valid Reach truck license, and at least 2 years of experience in storekeeping within the FMCG industry. An excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in storekeeping and stock control with strong focus on stock control.

Responsibilities

  • Stack and store goods and ensure neatness in cold store.
  • Picking finished goods for 3PLs as per picking slip.
  • Comply with safe stacking practices and report hazards.
  • Perform daily Reach Truck inspections.

Overview

Position Title: Cold Store Storeman
Position Type: Temporary - Part-Time
Position Location: Springs

COLDSTORE STOREMAN – SPRINGS (casual/temporary employment)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of the COLDSTORE Storeman to be based at the Springs site.

Responsibilities
  • Stacking and Storing of Goods
  • Supplying the clerks with empty storage bin locations to receive finished goods from packing
  • Verifications of the previous day packed stock compared with receiving documents
  • Stacking finished goods from packing
  • Housekeeping in the Cold Stores, ensuring there’s no clutter and that all pallets are stacked accordingly
  • Not allowing any product into the Cold Store without an SU label and location
  • Picking of Goods for the 3PLs
  • Picking finished goods as per picking slip provided by the team leader
  • Stacking all returned products accurately as per location allocated
  • Picking pallets which are in good condition to send to the customer
  • Stacking and Storage Practices
  • Comply with all stacking and storing principles, provide a place for everything and everything in its place
  • Safe stacking of all pallets in the Cold Store as per stacking exemption
  • No damaged pallets and cases stored and stacked in the Cold Store
  • Report safety hazards or unsafe conditions to the Cold Store Team Leader immediately
  • Complete daily warehouse inspection form and submit it to the Cold Store Team Leader
  • Safety, Housekeeping and General GMPs
  • Perform daily Reach Truck inspection, record, and report all non-conformances
  • Ensure daily warehouse inspection is conducted and recorded on the inspection sheet
  • Follow all safety rules of the company, including wearing the correct company-supplied PPE
  • Attend and contribute to daily departmental safety talks
  • Perform Ad-Hoc Tasks
  • Carry out any reasonable request as required by the Cold Store Team Leader
  • Assist with other tasks when required by the Cold Store Team Leader
  • Assist with training of new storeman in the Cold Store
Minimum Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • Grade 12/Matric with strong numerical acumen
  • Valid Reach truck license

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in FMCG plant manufacturing food industry environment
  • Experience should be in storekeeping and stock control with a strong focus on stock control

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Experience should be in storekeeping and stock control with a strong focus on stock control, equipment safety
  • Stock count ability with attention to detail
  • Stock movement and monitoring knowledge
