Cold Store Assistant Manager – Blackheath, Western Cape
Our client, a well‑established and reputable frozen fish manufacturer, is seeking a dedicated Cold Store Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of their cold storage facility in Blackheath.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Cold Store Manager in overseeing daily cold store operations, including receiving, storing, and dispatching of frozen products.
- Supervise and support team leaders and warehouse staff to maintain smooth workflow and productivity.
- Ensure cold store temperature standards of –18°C are consistently met.
- Monitor compliance with HACCP, Health & Safety, and PPECB requirements.
- Assist in inventory control, cycle counts, and stock reconciliation to maintain accuracy.
- Help coordinate equipment maintenance and liaise with service providers when required.
- Prepare operational reports and assist with administrative and documentation processes.
- Contribute to training, motivation, and performance monitoring of cold store staff.
- Support process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy across operations.
- Work extensively with MACRO management systems and Microsoft Excel / Word for reporting and data management.
Requirements
- 3–5 years' experience in cold store, warehouse, or logistics operations (fish or food industry preferred).
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Operations, or Supply Chain preferred (Matric + relevant experience considered).
- Understanding of cold‑chain logistics, HACCP, PPECB, and MACRO systems.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Experience working in cold storage and knowledge of MACRO system.
- Familiarity with HACCP and PPECB compliance.
- Background in cold‑chain industry.
