Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and certified Coded Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in performing high-quality welding operations in accordance with international welding codes and procedures. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards across a range of structural and pipe welding tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform welding operations using processes such as SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, or FCAW based on job requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric sketches, and welding symbols.
  • Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy pipes or structural components according to WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
  • Conduct visual inspections of welded joints and ensure compliance with quality standards (ASME, AWS, or ISO standards).
  • Use measuring tools to check tolerances and ensure weld accuracy.
  • Prepare, align, and secure materials before welding.
  • Perform tack welding, root passes, and final welds under pressure conditions.
  • Operate grinders, cutting torches, and other fabrication tools when necessary.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in a safe and clean condition.
  • Ensure strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations (OHS Act).
  • Collaborate with quality control inspectors and welding supervisors on defect rectifications.
  • Complete daily welding reports and timesheets accurately.
  • Assist in pressure testing and commissioning when required.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Certified Coded Welder with a valid Welder Qualification Record (WQR).
  • Minimum 35 years experience in a role within fabrication, construction, petrochemical, or mining environments.
  • Proficient in 6G, 3G, and / or 4G positions as required.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Strong understanding of material types, heat control, and welding procedures.
  • Ability to pass X-ray and ultrasonic tests.
  • Physically fit and able to work long hours in demanding environments.
  • Valid drivers license (advantageous).
  • Trade Test (advantageous but not always mandatory).
