Job Description
Experience Required:
- Minimum 5 years CNC milling programming experience.
 - Minimum 5 years working in the engineering/manufacturing industry.
 - Minimum 5 years using EDGECAM software, proficient in both 3-axis and 5-axis milling.
 
Requirements/Qualifications:
- EDGECAM Basic Milling & Turning certification.
 - EDGECAM Advanced Milling certification.
 - Proficiency in DESIGNER for CAD/CAM integration.
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documents.
 - Select appropriate tools, feeds, and speeds to optimize machining time and extend tool life.
 - Generate CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis milling using EDGECAM.
 - Support first-off inspections and troubleshoot machining issues on the workshop floor.
 - Continuously improve machining strategies to reduce cycle times and enhance productivity.
 - Document processes, setups, and best practices for repeatability and training purposes.
 
CNC Milling Programmer and Operator — Cape Town, Western Cape
Job Description
This is an on-site 6 month project based contract role for a CNC Operator & Machinist located in Cape Town. We\'re looking for an experienced/semi-experienced CNC programmer, operator & machinist to join our team of machinists within a busy, modern machine shop environment. The daily tasks include CNC programming, setting and CNC milling operations, ensuring quality control of manufacturing high precision parts. The CNC Operator & Machinist will work closely with the team to meet production targets and high precision specifications.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in CAM programs and programming skills (Edgecam/Mastercam)
 - Experience in CNC Machine Operation (Siemens/Fanuc)
 - Skills in Machining and Milling operations
 - Proficiency in Quality Control processes
 - Proficiency in reading 2D drawings and applicable tolerances
 - Attention to detail and precision in work
 - Ability to work independently and in a team environment
 - Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial
 - Relevant technical or vocational qualifications are advantageous
 
Key Responsibilities:
- Program, set, and operate Siemens 3-Axis CNC Milling Machines using Mastercam software
 - Read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, job cards, and technical specifications
 - Create and optimize CNC programs to achieve precision and efficiency
 - Conduct first-off inspections and verify component dimensions using measuring instruments
 - Maintain tooling, fixtures, and machine setup to ensure consistent production quality
 - Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime
 - Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and housekeeping standards in the workshop
 - Collaborate with production and engineering teams to improve machining processes
