MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To deliver safe, comprehensive and quality patient care, with specific reference to renal disease treatment and education according to the Scope of Practice and Renal Care policies and standard procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Deliver quality patient care in collaboration with a multi-professional team

Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety

Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment

Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all patient interventions

Create a learning environment that builds staff competence

Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Degree / Diploma in Clinical Technology (Nephrology)

DESIRED EDUCATION: None

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Clinical technologist (Nephrology) registered with the HPCSA with a minimum of 2 years Dialysis experience

DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Clinical technologist (Nephrology) registered with the HPCSA

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Basic Life Support trained (ACLS, ATLS, PALS training for specialised wards)
  • Chronic dialysis treatment
  • Clinical record keeping, procedures and protocols
  • Computer literacy: MS Office and Dialysis Programme
  • Develop/ modify a integrated, comprehensive patient based care plan and dialysis prescription
  • Dialysis machine and water purification system operation
  • Infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols
