Role Purpose

The clinical supervisor is a qualified, registered, and seasoned therapist whose primary role is to provide formal guidance, training, oversight, and support to other counsellors, as well as lend clinical expertise to stakeholders within the Employee Assistance Programme context.

The goal is to ensure effective, ethical, and professional client care aligned with governing body regulations.

Requirements

A National Senior Certificate is essential

Qualified Registered Counsellor, Social Worker (post-graduate qualification preferred) or Psychologist

Years' experience in the counselling industry as a counsellor is essential

Minimum of 5 years' experience as a clinical supervisor, providing formal case supervision to other counsellors (aligned with SACSSP / HPCSA / EAPA-SA CPD recognised supervision criteria)

Significant theoretical knowledge and completion of a wide range of therapeutic modalities is essential (over and above Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

Employment within an Employee Assistance Programme provider operational environment is highly advantageous

Experience in the development and / or delivery of clinical training to other professionally qualified counsellors would be an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Development and maintenance of clinical protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure legal, ethical and operational excellence.

Responsible for the care centre service recovery and client experience function.

Manage the Quality Management System (QMS) process and be responsible for the QMS certification process.

Provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders around clinical decision-making, head up innovative ad hoc requests and clinical insights on client reporting.

Accountable for training, coaching and clinical supervision functions within the care centre, fostering professional growth, ensuring ethical and legal adherence through clinical excellence.

Lead and support a team of direct reports, driving performance, engagement and accountability.

Act as the primary contact for sensitive and executive client referrals, delivering counselling and coaching services with professionalism, empathy and discretion.

Lead the development and delivery of formal clinical and operational training within the care centre.
