Job summary

A leading infrastructure maintenance firm in Gauteng seeks a Civil Engineer to maintain civil assets, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and support maintenance activities. The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma in Civil Engineering, a valid driver’s license, and three to four years of relevant experience. Job description
Purpose

To maintain the Operator' assets and ensure that safety, quality and performance targets are achieved. To execute maintenance policy, standards and procedures and ensure reliable and safe system. To ensure seamless travel for our customers that is safe, reliable, comfortable and friendly.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Provide support to the maintenance of civil infrastructure within the Maintenance Division.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health Safety Acts & its Regulations, all applicable legal requirements and Company policies.
  • Provide support to maintenance team for the management of preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed through Maximo, PowerBI and other applicable maintenance management systems.
  • Conduct Civil Infrastructure, Landscaping and Dolomite maintenance inspections.
  • Assist in continuous improvement within the Department.
  • Assist with Non-Compliance reporting process and NCR closure.
  • Participate in external and internal audits.
  • Ensure update of maintenance procedure and preventative maintenance plans.
  • Ensure Civil Infrastructure, Landscaping and Dolomite maintenance plans are executed, and equipment is ready for use as required.
  • Monitor the condition of the assets and propose remedial actions.
  • Arrange meetings, take minutes and keep register of business correspondence.
  • Night Shift inspection of Tunnel (15km) – 1 (one) week per month.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Enforce compliance to applicable codes and standards for civil works.
  • Comply with Company policies.
  • Conduct inspections and report deviations and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Participate in Maintenance Management Information System.
  • Participate in compilation, completion and closure of remedial works on NCR, LDN and WDN in civil and building defect notifications.
  • Daily follow up on Civil Infrastructure and Landscaping WO's.
  • Maintain the Civil Infrastructure as per OMM.
  • Evaluate third party designs, work procedures, quality control, project acceptance and maintenance document review.
  • Manage and update civil maintenance drawings, specifications and procedures.
  • Communicate and keep register of business correspondence.
  • Organize and attend monthly site inspections of the Gautrain system.
  • Inspect system to identify issues or non-conformity for resolution.
  • Arrange and conduct regular inspections and audits on subcontractors.
  • Ensure annual safety audits are conducted and ensure contractors comply with all applicable regulations.
  • Compilation of bill of quantities for maintenance work (SANS, COTO).
  • Update specifications and procedures as and when required.
  • Conduct condition assessments and structural audits.
  • Give technical advice and feedback on any defects or upgrades.
  • Assist in renewal projects.
  • Source, procurement and supervision of competent contractors.
  • Abide to general housekeeping rules.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned.
