Placements24 is seeking a Civil Project Manager for water and sanitation projects in Tembisa, Gauteng. This site-based role requires hands-on leadership to deliver end-to-end construction, commissioning and handover for large-scale infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering degree, Pr. Eng registration is advantageous, and at least 7 years in civil project management with projects above R50 million.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional registration (Pr. Eng) is advantageous.
• Minimum 7 years in civil project management, with water/wastewater focus.
• Experience managing projects above R50 million.
• Proficient in project management software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end water and sanitation projects from planning to handover.
• Develop plans, schedules, resources, and risk assessments.
• Oversee procurement, tendering, and contract administration.
• Ensure safety, quality and environmental compliance on sites.
• Coordinate with authorities, utilities and community reps.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of water and sanitation infrastructure projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedules, resource requirements, and risk assessments.
• Oversee procurement processes, including tendering, contractor selection, and contract administration.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental protocols on all project sites.
• Coordinate with municipal authorities, utility providers, and community representatives.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage project finances, including budget tracking, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Prepare detailed project documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and final project close-out documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Professional registration (e.g., Pr. Eng, Pr. CPM) is highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in civil project management, with a strong focus on water and sanitation projects.
• Demonstrated experience in managing projects exceeding R50 million.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard office applications.
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and South African municipal by-laws related to water and sanitation.
• Strong negotiation, leadership, and team management skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Ability to work full-time on-site in and around Tembisa.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project locations within Gauteng.
