Placements24 is seeking a skilled Civil Engineering Technician to join its team in Benoni, Gauteng. The role supports design and implementation of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads and stormwater, with hybrid work flexibility.

You will work with Civil Engineers and Project Managers, perform site inspections, prepare drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and help with documentation and project records while adhering to SANS and municipal by-laws.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Civil Engineering Technician, preferably in municipal/infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential.
• Understanding of road design principles and stormwater management.
• Familiarity with SANS and municipal by-laws.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Civil Engineering Technician to join their team in Benoni, Gauteng. This position focuses on supporting the design and implementation of municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, stormwater systems, and public spaces. The role offers a hybrid work model, combining office-based tasks with the flexibility of remote work. You will work closely with Civil Engineers and Project Managers, contributing to the successful delivery of projects that enhance community infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for municipal projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Perform calculations for road earthworks, drainage systems, and service installations under supervision.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather data and verify existing conditions.
• Support engineers in the development of project documentation, including bills of quantities and reports.
• Coordinate with contractors and site personnel during the construction phase.
• Ensure compliance with municipal standards, drawings, and relevant legislation.
• Assist in project administration tasks, such as tracking progress and maintaining project records.
• Liaise with utility companies and other stakeholders as directed by the project engineer.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on site information.
• Contribute to the overall quality control and assurance processes for designs and construction.

Requirements

• National Diploma or BTech in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Civil Engineering Technician, preferably in municipal or infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is essential.
• Understanding of road design principles, stormwater management, and basic geometric design.
• Experience with site inspections and construction supervision is advantageous.
• Good technical drawing and detailing skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.

• Familiarity with South African National Standards (SANS) and municipal by-laws.
• Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician (Pr. Tech. Eng.) or Candidate Engineering Technician (Cand. Tech. Eng.) is preferred.
