Job description

Core Focus (Pty) Ltd is seeking a registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng.) with strong analytical and planning capabilities to support the delivery of infrastructure programmes. The Civil Engineer will ensure that project proposals, feasibility studies, and implementation plans meet engineering, regulatory, and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical review and quality assurance of civil engineering inputs in project plans, feasibility studies, and procurement documentation.
  • Evaluate and verify design reports, BoQs, and specifications prepared by consultants or contractors for compliance and constructability.
  • Ensure that all civil engineering components align with company and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in project planning sessions and advise on engineering risks, dependencies, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Assess project proposals and cost estimates for technical soundness and value-for-money.
  • Provide professional guidance and recommendations to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Review contractor and consultant submissions to ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and frameworks.
  • Assist in monitoring implementation progress through technical reporting and data validation.
  • Contribute to improving infrastructure delivery processes and performance monitoring across programmes.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng. or BSc Eng.)
  • Registered Professional Engineer (Pr Eng.) with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA). No other categories will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience, with extensive involvement in infrastructure planning, project evaluation, or technical review.
  • Experience in public-sector or large-scale infrastructure programmes is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
