Placements24 is seeking a Civil Engineer to plan, design and supervise municipal infrastructure projects around Stellenbosch, Western Cape. You will be involved in roads, stormwater and public space developments, balancing office design work with site supervision in a collaborative team. The ideal candidate has a BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering and at least 6 years of municipal/infrastructure experience, with Pr.

Eng or Pr. Tech Eng registration advantageous.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• 6+ years of relevant municipal engineering or infrastructure experience.
• Registration as Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech Eng with ECSA is advantageous.
• Experience in project management and contract administration for public works.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage municipal infrastructure projects (roads, stormwater, public facilities).
• Conduct feasibility studies, traffic impact assessments, and environmental evaluations.
• Prepare tender documents, specifications, and contract administration for construction projects.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure design, quality and safety compliance.
• Liaise with municipal departments, consultants, contractors and the public to implement projects.
• Ensure alignment with development goals and sustainability objectives.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to play a key role in managing and developing municipal infrastructure projects in and around Stellenbosch, Western Cape . You will be involved in the planning, design, and oversight of public works, including roads, stormwater systems, and public spaces, ensuring they meet community needs and environmental standards. This position is ideal for an engineer passionate about urban development and public service, offering a blend of office-based design work and site-based supervision. You will contribute to the sustainable growth of this vibrant municipality, working within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and manage municipal infrastructure projects such as road upgrades, new stormwater networks, and public facility developments.
• Conduct feasibility studies, traffic impact assessments, and environmental evaluations for proposed projects.
• Prepare tender documents, specifications, and contract administration for construction projects.
• Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with designs, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Liaise with municipal departments, consultants, contractors, and the public to facilitate project implementation.
• Ensure that all projects align with the municipality's development goals and sustainability objectives.

Requirements

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in municipal engineering or infrastructure development.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) or Technologist (Pr. Tech Eng) registration with ECSA is advantageous.
• Proven experience in project management and contract administration for public works projects.
• Familiarity with local government planning processes and infrastructure standards.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and relevant project management software.
