Job description

Our client is looking for a dedicated Civil Engineer with expertise in Coastal and Marine Projects to join their team in Mossel Bay, Western Cape . This role is critical for designing and managing projects such as breakwaters, jetties, seawalls, and offshore structures. You will be involved in every stage, from feasibility studies and environmental assessments to detailed design and construction supervision. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on unique maritime engineering challenges in a coastal setting, collaborating with specialists in a dynamic, hybrid work environment that balances site presence with remote flexibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze coastal structures, including breakwaters, seawalls, and piers, considering wave action and sediment transport.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments for marine development projects.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents for marine construction.
  • Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage project budgets and schedules for coastal and port infrastructure developments.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders on project progress and technical matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Coastal or Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the design and management of coastal and marine structures.
  • Proficiency in specialized software for wave modeling, sediment transport, and structural analysis (e.g., MIKE by DHI, Delft3D ).
  • Strong understanding of hydrodynamics, naval architecture principles, and port operations.
  • Experience with environmental considerations in coastal development.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills for a hybrid work setting.
