An organization supporting children in foster care is seeking Child Care Staff to provide a safe and engaging environment for children aged 1-18 while their parents attend support groups. The ideal candidate is energetic, patient, and has experience with children. Responsibilities include engaging children in activities and supervising their safety. The position offers flexible hours, primarily in the evenings, making it perfect for students or young adults. Training will be provided upon hiring.

Child Care Staff – Mountain Region (Glenwood Springs / Rifle)

This position is a childcare staff position that works directly with the kids of Hope & Home to provide a safe, fun and interactive environment, while their parents or caregivers attend Support Group.

Children in foster care need consistency and this position is a wonderful way to help kids while learning more about the diverse and ever-changing world of foster care.

We often say that "the difference is making a child feel truly special" and this role does just that!

Location

Varies for each group – various locations in Garfield County

Salary
  • per hour (CO minimum wage)
Hours Details
  • Initially only one to two groups per month (5pm-9pm).
  • Specific dates to be scheduled.
  • Additional hours to help with events as scheduled are available.
  • Hours are consistent, but not guaranteed.

This role is ideal for college students or young adults who may have another part-time or full -time job but are interested in learning more about caring for children and / or the foster care system.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for children ages 1-18
  • Conduct all activities in a positive and professional manner
  • Follow all Hope & Home policies and procedures
  • Supervise activities of all children in assigned age group
  • Engage children with games, toys, and other approved activities
  • Ensure that every child is welcomed, supported, and made to feel special during the evening
  • Report any incidents to supervisor

Maintain required paperwork and records

  • Responsible for set up before group and general cleaning duties after group each night
  • Assist as needed at other scheduled events throughout the year
Qualifications
  • Ability to work on scheduled dates
  • At least one year of experience working with children preferred

  • Able to work well on a team

Certifications / Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must complete CPR and First Aid training (upon hiring)
  • Must complete Hope & Home orientation and training (upon hiring)
  • Employee may occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 lbs. Full mobility is required.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the support group locations.
