Placements24 is seeking a Chief Metallurgist based in Centurion, Gauteng to lead the mineral processing division. The role focuses on optimizing recovery, improving processing efficiency, and driving metallurgical innovation across projects.

You will manage a senior team, oversee pilot studies, and collaborate with R&D to evaluate new technologies while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years in mineral processing with significant leadership experience.
• Expertise in flotation, comminution, leaching and other metallurgical processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of metallurgical operations, including process design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and implement strategies to improve recovery, concentrate grade, and operational efficiency.
• Manage and mentor a team of metallurgists and technicians, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Conduct pilot plant studies and bench-scale testing to evaluate new process technologies.
• Analyze metallurgical data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions for consistent performance.
