Introduction
Tshwane Rapid Transit (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced executive professional to achieve a financially healthy and efficient organization.
The CFO provides strategic direction of the company's finances including financial operations and direct supervision of financial resources, functions and activities.
The CFO will play a leading role in guaranteeing that daily financial operations are coordinated, cost-effective and efficient.
He / she will focus on establishing relevant performance measures and implementing financial management strategy and practices that ensure the company establishes a reputation for being at the cutting edge of public transport.
He or she shall solicit funding for various projects to ensure the company's financial sustainability.
The position is for a 5 year fixed-term contract and reports to the CEO of the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and direct TRT's financial functions and activities.
- Responsible for the development and monitoring of financial management strategy, risk management strategy and plan, IT and procurement plan.
- Ensure the development and monitoring of finance policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow, reduced operating costs, and income generation.
- Safeguard the organisation's assets and manage liabilities to ensure a long-term financially sustainable organisation.
- Responsible for financial statements with adherence to relevant legislation, and management of audit and tax affairs of the company.
- Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased as well assuring that all are in accordance with International and South African legislation.
- Responsible for developing and monitoring a system of internal controls to adequately safeguard financial resources.
- Manage the preparation of the annual budget.
- Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
- Develop and implement the organisation's financial goals and objectives.
- Oversee the investment of funds and manage associated risks.
- Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile.
- Maintain appropriate insurance cover.
- Oversee Procurement and IT functions of the company.
- Generate income for the company and approve monthly bank reconciliations.
- Manage the preparation of monthly management accounts and other informational reports and analysis.
- Review financial results and highlight future needs and trends.
- Ensure underlying accounting records are accurate, complete and in accordance with IFRS.
- Review monthly operating reports for accuracy, completeness and major variances between actual and budget results.
- Prepare quarterly and annual fair value reports.
- Prepare summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.
- Manage and develop human resources in Finance and assigned business units.
- Provide the CEO and Board of Directors with accurate and timely communication of financial issues.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- 10 years minimum of post-articles experience.
- High degree of computer literacy in PowerPoint, Excel, word and electronic means of communication.
- Excellent management skills - experience in managing teams but also in relation to high level stakeholder management.
- Solid experience and understanding of financial control frameworks and methodologies.
- Knowledge of SA legislation, IFRS, GRAP, King III, Companies Act, Income tax Act, PFMA and MFMA.
- Proven experience in People management as he / she shall have subordinates reporting to the position.
- Regulatory reporting experience.
- Previous experience as CFO or three years in a Senior Finance Manager role and being a member of EXCO is required.
- Proven Fund- raising skills and experience.
- High level of business insight and commercial acumen.
- Good knowledge of all corporate and institutional banking products.
- Experience in conducting presentations to diverse groups of internal and external stakeholder.
- Policies formulation and review.
- Analytical, organisational and report writing skills.
- Strong budgeting, planning and execution skills.
- Re-engineering, project and process changes skills would be desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to lead the overall Finance and any other teams assigned.
- Excellent teamwork and project management skills.
- Ability to think strategically, operate and communicate at all levels.
- As senior manager, the role requires integrity and confidentiality in handling information.
- Experience in rapid transit or transport sector experience is an added advantage.
