We are assisting a client in appointing an experienced Chief Financial Officer. The role is responsible for leading the organisation’s financial strategy, operations and governance, while driving strong financial performance and ensuring robust controls across the business. This position requires a hands‑on, operationally minded financial leader who can support growth, improve processes and strengthen executive decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Partner with Managing Directors to develop and execute financial and operational strategy.
- Drive financial planning aligned with long‑term business objectives.
- Oversee capital investments (Capex) and major overhead expenditure.
- Lead corporate governance initiatives and ensure ethical, compliant operations.
- Manage investment strategies, liquidity, cash flow and risk.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and develop profitability and growth plans.
Operational Management
Oversee and strengthen controls across multiple business functions, including:
- Finance (Reporting, Costing, Debtors, Creditors, Treasury, Tax)
- Stock Procurement – Imports & Local Supply Chain
- Warehousing
- Office & Facilities Management
- Human Resources
- Legal
Additional operational focus areas:
- Enhance governance and implement a structured delegation of authority.
- Manage treasury functions: cash management, banking and net working capital.
- Build strong relationships with senior leadership, partners and key stakeholders.
- Manage and optimise key vendor relationships.
Financial Reporting
- Ensure accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and annual financial statements.
- Manage quarterly financial, audit and performance reporting to the Board.
- Oversee group reporting requirements.
- Lead the year‑end audit and work with external auditors.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all SARS reporting requirements (Income Tax, Provisional Tax, EMP).
- Oversee adherence to the Companies Act and ICASA regulations.
- Manage and maintain B-BBEE compliance.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide cross‑functional support across the business.
- Oversee insurance processes from declarations to claims.
- Manage projects relevant to finance, HR and IT.
- Provide training, guidance and management to all direct and indirect reports.
- Oversee contract governance and administration.
Education & Experience Requirements
- CA(SA)
- 5 to 10 years’ financial management experience
- Minimum 5 years in a senior FM role in a similar-sized organisation
- Proficient in MS Office and financial management systems
- SAP B1 experience is advantageous
- Strong operational experience with a hands‑on approach
