JOB DESCRIPTION

The CFO will play a critical role in enabling this transformation by ensuring financial agility, supporting intelligent automation initiatives, and aligning financial strategy with exponential growth ambitions.

Key Responsibilities Monthly financial management reporting
  • a. Reporting that is in accordance with the Santam Group requirements, accounting policies including IFRS and Regulatory requirements.
  • b. Setting up processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of reporting requirements by Business Units within the required Group Reporting timelines.
  • c. Support the financial reporting requirement where business change necessitates reporting changes.
  • d. Variance analysis and reporting of revenue and expenses as well as management of the head office cost allocation rules relevant to the Brolink business.
  • e. Manage liquidity, capital structure, and working capital to ensure long-term financial health.
  • f. Drive continuous improvement in financial systems, controls, and processes.
Forecast, Budgeting, Scenario planning and Analysis
  • a. Effective and efficient quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting.
  • b. Supporting the Brolink Business with financial planning, scenario planning, and strategic business case development.
Strategic Leadership
  • a. Develop and execute the company's financial strategy, aligning it with overall business goals.
  • b. Identify financial opportunities and recommend strategies to enhance business profitability.
  • c. Lead and inspire a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • d. Collaborate with technology teams to align financial systems with modern cloud infrastructure and modular platform architecture.
Operational Management
  • a. Establish and maintain efficient operational processes and workflows within the Finance function.
  • b. Develop and implement performance metrics and KPIs to monitor and measure operational effectiveness and ensure service level agreements are met.
  • c. Identify areas for operational improvement and implement initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and reduce costs across the Brolink business.
  • d. Champion the adoption of intelligent automation and AI-driven financial processes to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • e. Lead the premium collections business.
Relationship Management
  • a. Maintain and enhance relationships with key customers and stakeholders, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty.
  • b. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align strategies to financial management principles.
  • c. Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and events to enhance brand visibility and build strategic alliances.
  • d. Support financial strategies that enable intermediary growth, including tailored reporting, cost optimization, and scalable financial services.
  • e. Build a high-performing finance organisation.
  • f. Mentor and develop the finance team and foster a data-driven culture.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • a. Enterprise Risk Management and Reporting.
  • b. Coordinate the monthly reporting to the Brolink CEO and EXCO in alignment with Santam Group Finance principles.
  • c. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices in finance operations.
  • d. Coordinate the quarterly reporting to the Brolink Board.
  • e. Monitor and mitigate risks associated with Brolink activities, proactively addressing any potential issues or gaps through the Group Enterprise Risk Management function and/or Brolink's Internal Audit function.
  • f. Lead and manage the external audit process, ensuring timely completion, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • g. Serve as the principal liaison between management, the Board, and external auditors, driving audit readiness, transparency, and resolution of key findings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) or CIMA qualification required.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in a financial department.

Minimum 5 years of experience in financial analysis / management reporting.

Experience in setting up financial reporting processes.

Experience in data validation, accuracy and completeness reporting is strongly recommended.

Enterprise Risk management reporting would be advantageous.

Insurance industry experience is strongly recommended.

Leadership Skills: Executive Financial Leadership – Proven track record of providing financial leadership at Board and/or Executive Committee level.

Proven ability to lead, develop and motivate high-performing Finance teams to achieve year on year revenue growth.

Management of resources (Financial and Human).

Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated experience in aligning financial plans to achieve business objectives in the short term and to partner with stakeholders to develop long‑term business plans to ensure financial growth and profitability.

Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business objectives into profitable outcomes.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create sustainable partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Financial Efficiency: Improve cost‑to‑income ratio and operational efficiency.

Team Performance: Build and maintain a high‑performing team with high engagement.

Stakeholder Satisfaction: Maintain high satisfaction levels among intermediaries, insurers, and internal stakeholders.

Maintenance of positive operating cash flows as well as regulatory solvency ratios and capital adequacy levels as per FSCA's headroom requirements.
