Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an innovative Chemical Research Engineer to lead experimental work in a state-of-the-art lab in the Western Cape. You will design and execute experiments to explore new chemical processes and materials, and collaborate with researchers to push the boundaries of technology.

This role requires a strong theoretical foundation and hands-on skills in synthesis, catalysis, and analytical techniques, with opportunities for remote collaboration on select projects.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
• Proven experience in experimental design and execution.
• Knowledge of organic/inorganic synthesis, catalysis, or materials science.
• Experience with spectroscopy, chromatography, and thermal analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct laboratory experiments to investigate novel chemical reactions and processes.
• Analyze data, interpret results, and guide further research.
• Develop new synthetic routes and purification methods for target compounds or materials.
• Operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment and analytical instrumentation.
