Job description
PRIMARY DUTIES

Comply with start-of-shift, break-in-shift and end-of-shift utilizing the biometrics system and hard copy timesheet procedures and systems. Inform customers of route, timetable and fare system information. Distribute public information communication material and ensure adequate stock is visible. Adhere to station operations manual. Comply with and implement all tasks and procedures as detailed in the Cashier Procedures Protocols. Undertake daily checklist before duties commence. Accurately complete all prescribed documentation for cash management. Ensure availability of customer forms at all times. Ensure stock availability of fare cards. Top up and sell fare cards. Reconcile float: Count cash, complete deposit slip, include slip and cash in cash collection bag and deposit in the drop-safe. Ensure safe is in working order and key is available. Co-ordinate hand over to cash collection company. Operate the cash management equipment and remember the COM passwords. Conduct daily stationary and supply checks and report any problems to the supervisor. Logging cash equipment faults with relevant service providers. Undertake daily checklist at shift handover or station closure. Adhere to the prescribed uniform code and name tags at all times. Manage kiosk and ensure no unauthorised persons are allowed in the kiosk. Ensure kiosks are kept clean and tidy. Ensure validator and radio equipment is charged. HSEQ compliance, awareness and checklists. Comply with all the instructions and requests from station management and supervisors.

SECONDARY DUTIES

Perform ambassador tasks as per ambassador procedures. Perform validator tasks as per validator procedures. Comply with shift schedule.

Key Skills and Experience

Grade 12. Previous cashier experience advantageous. Computer literate. Understand the importance of good customer relationship skills. People and management skill. Excellent customer care skills. Good communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse groups of people across all levels. Customer focussed. Good attention to detail. Pro‑active. Take ownership of tasks. Ability to prioritise tasks. Calm disposition.
