Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of relevant call centre experience and strong communication skills. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Pretoria, with a requirement to work shifts.

Our client is searching for a Call Centre Operator (Logistics) to join their team in Akasia.

Job Description

The Call Centre operates 24/7/365.

Responsibilities
  • Process breakdown calls: drivers will log calls for breakdowns or mechanical problems on the truck or trailer with the call centre. The Call Centre Operator arranges with the appropriate truck dealership to repair or service the vehicle; for trailer breakdowns arrange with an approved service provider. Provide regular feedback to the fleet controller on repair status. Complete the breakdown book with all relevant information and ensure the admin person has the book first thing in the morning (07h30) to compile the breakdown report. If unsure about a repair or service provider, liaise with the Technical Manager or Foreman for clarity.
  • Diesel provisioning: direct drivers where to fill with diesel at approved diesel filling stations, approve requests, provide authorization number, and capture fleet number, litres, date, time and kilometres on the system.
  • Capturing of loads on system: capture client details (from/to), departure time, load mass and departing kilometres, arrival time and offloading kilometres, time and load mass; monitor trucks on designated routes and take corrective action for any deviations.
  • Journey management, including sleep plans: inform the Fleet Controller of deviations, ensure drivers follow sleep plans, call drivers to confirm readiness, and initiate recovery protocols in the event of incidents (accident or hijacking).
  • Issuing and management of pool vehicle: manage pool vehicle requests and bookings; conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and report damages to the Technical Manager.
Requirements
  • Matric (Gr 12) or equivalent; Diploma or similar in Logistics or Transport Management (advantageous but not essential).
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role within the logistics & transport industry.
  • Language: English (required); Afrikaans (desired); other official languages (advantage).
  • Willing to work shifts (including weekends).
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Pretoria, Gauteng (reliably commute or relocate before starting).
  • Experience: Call Centre (Logistics): 2 years (required).
