Job summary

CGS Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Operator for a site-based role in Cape Town. You will use modern 3D Laser Scanning (LiDAR) to collect precise field data and mark out design parameters across industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to interpret as-built models, analyse the data and compare to design.
• Revise and update existing drawings reflecting project changes.
• Assist in preparing documentation and technical reports for projects.
• Participate in safety, quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collect and record site data in alignment with project requirements.
• Set out and mark design parameters accurately according to approved plans.
• Report project results and escalate unforeseen challenges following the organizational structure.

At CGS Inc, we solve problems and specialise in built measurement for Industrial and Mechanical projects on Construction sites, Chemical Plants, Mines, and Ships. We employ modern 3D measurement techniques such as 3D Laser Scanning (LIDAR) and regularly carry out Building Surveys (As-built verification) for Architects.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a detail-oriented and eager-to-learn CAD Operator to join our team. In this site-based position, you will utilize modern 3D Laser Scanning (LiDAR) to collect precise field data and mark out design parameters across various industrial and construction projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a CAD Diploma / Certificates, 1 year of CAD experience, and the ability to thrive in demanding, hands-on outdoor environments. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The role may involve travel between sites.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma or certificate in Draughting.
• 1 year of experience in a CAD Operator, Draftsperson, or similar draughting role.
• Proficiency in CAD software.
• Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
• Willingness to travel and work on different project sites.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Experience preparing as-built drawings and measurement reports.
• Experience in 3d printing and / or CNC tooling will be advantageous.
• Familiarity with quality control processes and documentation.
• Experience working with client representatives, engineers, and principal agents.
• Experience with 3D Laser Scanning hardware and related workflows
