Role Overview - Buyer
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Buyer to support our procurement function across projects and operational sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing technical goods and services, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring procurement activities are aligned with company policies and compliance standards. They will also be responsible for balancing cost, quality, timely delivery to ensure efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with sourcing and purchasing goods and services in line with project and
- operational requirements - ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance.
- Prepare and issue RFQs.
- Negotiate and build terms with suppliers to gain mutually beneficial business relationships.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve procurement-related issues.
- Onboarding of new suppliers and update the approved supplier database in line with compliance and audit requirements.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Assist with invoice reconciliation and liaise with finance for payment processing.
- Track procurement KPIs and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
- Manage suppliers and critical items necessity by identifying and being aware of
- stock levels for critical items.
- Track quotes and orders by maintaining detailed spreadsheets.
- Managing electronic filing for quotes and supplier documents for easy access
- and organization.
- Communicate status of orders internal and external.
- Align with finance department on payment terms and credit applications.
- Prepare invoice projection and forecast reports.
- Reports (in terms of spending, financial planning/forecasts) for management and
- other admin duties.
- Support logistics with customs paperwork (commercial invoices and packing
- lists) and liaising with freight agents.
- Take on evolving responsibilities in line with business growth.
Minimum Requirements
- National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
- 2-4 years' experience in procurement or buying, preferably in oil & gas, engineering, or industrial sectors.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with TORQ or similar systems (supply chain software) advantageous.
- Understanding of international procurement and logistics processes.
- Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g. POPIA).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
