A recruitment company is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to manage supplier relationships and cost analysis for construction projects in Durban. The ideal candidate will possess a National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Quantity Surveying and 5 years of experience in the industry. Key responsibilities include sourcing prices from suppliers, assessing reliability, and monitoring project quantities. This is a permanent on-site position in KwaZulu-Natal with a competitive salary.
Source and obtain best prices from suppliers for cost estimates in tendering for new projects, when commencing new projects, and during the course of each project, when prices from alternative suppliers should be regularly checked Obtain written confirmation of quotes, and maintain confidentiality both internally and externally Assess the reliability, capacity and delivery lead times of suppliers Provide Quantity Surveyor with schedule of prices and make recommendations for consideration by the Contracts Manager Monitor quantities requested against project scope and quantity ordered to date, avoiding over-ordering and over-stocking on sites Liaise with site to arrange timeous delivery of ad-hoc and materials supply orders Ensure that established policies and procedures are adhered to, and sound control principles are applied Ensure that control systems remain relevant through regular reviews Ensure the effective engagement with suppliers to build procurement relationships Attend meetings and present findings and proposals to members and management as required
National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Quantity Surveying or NQF Level 6 equivalent BTech in Quantity Surveying or NQF Level 7 equivalent5 years experience in a construction environment Construction Materials Knowledge Interpretation of architectural drawings Measuring and Quantity Estimate Methodologies Cost Analysis Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) Treasury Regulations Supply Chain Management practices and processes Knowledge of general financial management, budgeting and reporting processes within the Public Sector Advanced Excel Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation
