Nedbank is seeking dynamic and ambitious graduates to join our Business Manager Graduate: Agric/Commercial Banking Programme. This programme is designed to develop future leaders in the banking industry by providing comprehensive training, exposure to various business functions, and hands‑on experience in managing commercial client portfolios.
Job Responsibilities
- Acquire new commercial clients with annual turnovers between R30m and R1b through strategic prospecting and networking, driving market share growth.
- Serve as trusted advisors to clients in specialized industries (e.g., Agriculture, Franchise, Fintech, Manufacturing) by continuously developing professionally and enhancing personal skills.
- Stay informed about the latest economic trends and developments (e.g., green energy, sustainable agriculture) and leverage this knowledge to add value to client engagements and identify opportunities.
- Identify acquisition opportunities through effective ecosystem analysis, unlocking value within the value chain.
- Generate revenue by implementing proactive cross‑sell strategies, utilizing specialized industry and banking knowledge, and managing key internal stakeholder relationships.
- Conduct in‑depth financial needs analyses to identify cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities aligned with business goals.
- Perform regular reviews with clients to identify and unlock value‑added opportunities that contribute to client retention.
- Engage proactively with clients, adding value through tailored financial solutions.
- Develop and execute a client engagement plan to ensure frequent interactions with all clients, aligning with Nedbank’s growth objectives.
- Build trusting relationships through regular interactions with key decision‑makers within the allocated business portfolio.
- Earn client trust by being a reliable financial partner, providing advice, and offering honest, consistent feedback on financial requests.
- Act as a key interface for clients to the bank by maintaining a thorough knowledge of the bank’s products, services, and solutions, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
- Communicate client interaction feedback to internal stakeholders to address actionable items and take corrective action where necessary.
- Recommend tailor‑made solutions to meet clients’ needs by gaining an intimate understanding of their business and consulting with relevant stakeholders.
- Manage all business risks and ensure compliance by following regulatory requirements and the bank’s internal policies and procedures.
- Partner with the credit manager to manage the credit risk of the portfolio and minimize potential impairment risk.
- Prepare and present large and complex credit applications, incorporating specialized industry knowledge and core banking principles.
- Support the digitization of clients in line with the 4th Industrial Revolution dynamics.
- Drive client awareness and solutions for sustainable development goals in line with Nedbank’s purpose.
Qualifications
- Must have completed an NQF Level 8 in BCom Agriculture Economics (HONS) or BSC Agriculture (HONS).
- Candidates must hold an honours degree in Agriculture with an average score of 60% or above.
