Job description

A challenging opportunity exists at Metals Rosslyn for a Business Improvement Engineer. The primary objective for this role is to drive Operational Excellence initiatives and deliver on key performance indicators in productivity, quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale (PQCDSM). The position reports to the Business Improvement Manager and is graded at a Peromnes 08.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement continuous improvement to quantitatively improve quality, efficiencies, cost and service delivery, using 6 Sigma, 5S, Lean, OEE and others.
  • Monitor and analyse process performance in all operations.
  • Action and execute projects with focus on loss and waste analysis, design and implementation of the best practice process in the operation.
  • Implement change management initiatives from divisional level down to site level to support a culture that embraces change.
  • Risk management by identifying potential implementation related risk and incorporate a mitigation plan to reduce the overall effect.
  • Develop and track standardized process implementation for project planning and execution.
  • Train and educate stakeholders.
  • Responsible for categories of OEE opportunity identification, including tracking; downtime results, data integrity and developing improvement plans.
  • Support safety as a top priority in all areas, including training, job design, ergonomics and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Maintains system for “right first time” performance and live this philosophy in the continuous improvement teams.
Ideal Candidate Should Possess the Following
  • Bachelor’s degree/Btech in industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • A post graduate diploma in manufacturing and experience in 6 Sigma, will be an added advantage.
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience in an FMCG environment.
  • Strong ability and knowledge to manage projects.
  • Sound knowledge of problem-solving methodologies.
