ESD & SED Business Development Specialist

We’re looking for someone who knows how to turn client needs into practical, high-impact ESD and SED solutions. You’ll sit with clients, unpack what they’re trying to achieve, and shape those ideas into solid programmes with the right service partners to deliver them.

Your work will blend business development, solution design, and compliance know-how. The goal is simple: win the right deals, build solutions that make sense commercially, and help clients achieve strong B‑BBEE and ESG results while driving real value in the economy.

What the role is about

You’ll identify opportunities, close deals, and guide the creation of programmes that support supplier development, enterprise growth, and community impact. Every solution you put forward should hold up under audit, deliver measurable outcomes, and strengthen long‑term partnerships with clients and service providers.

What you’ll do
Business Development
  • Find and secure new business across current and potential client portfolios.
  • Run sales meetings, present solutions, and develop proposals that show clear commercial and compliance value.
  • Build business cases and pricing structures that link transformation spend to real scorecard and strategic outcomes.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline through active outreach, relationship building, and market insight.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth handover from pitch to delivery.
  • Consistently meet revenue and growth targets.
Client Engagement and Solution Design
  • Meet with executives and transformation teams to understand priorities, risks, and long‑term goals.
  • Shape tailored ESD and SED solutions that balance business benefits with measurable social outcomes.
  • Turn client requirements into structured delivery plans, budgets, KPIs, and compliance frameworks.
  • Guide clients on verification, governance, and impact reporting so they’re always audit‑ready.
Programme Development and Delivery Oversight
  • Structure programmes that support black‑owned SMMEs, build stronger supplier pipelines, and uplift targeted communities.
  • Develop interventions such as incubation, mentorship, access‑to‑finance models, and supplier readiness initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with delivery partners, SMMEs, NPOs, incubators, and funders to strengthen implementation.
Compliance, Impact, and Reporting
  • Embed compliance and evidence tracking into every solution from day one.
  • Set verification standards, review documentation, and prepare clients for audit.
  • Produce impact and performance reports that reflect outcomes like job creation, enterprise growth, and sustainability.
What you bring
  • At least five years in ESD, SED, transformation consulting, business development, or a related field.
  • A relevant degree in Business, Development Studies, Economics, Social Sciences, or similar.
  • A strong track record of designing and selling ESD and SED solutions aligned to B‑BBEE and ESG requirements.
  • Solid understanding of B‑BBEE legislation, verification processes, and impact measurement.
  • Confident, consultative sales skills with experience influencing at executive level.
  • Strong writing, presenting, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • A practical approach to balancing commercial delivery, compliance, and real social impact.
