Role Purpose:
To lead growth initiatives in the medical waste and healthcare risk waste (HCRW) sector. This role is critical in expanding the organisation footprint in the healthcare industry, ensuring that there is compliant deliver, sustainable, and efficient waste management solutions to hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of the healthcare environment, risk waste handling regulations, and a passion for promoting safe, compliant waste services.
Key Performance Areas:
- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities in the waste sectors.
- Build and maintain long‑term relationships with public and private practices clients.
- Develop tailored proposals and solutions that meet regulatory standards and client‑specific waste management needs.
- Stay informed on changes in healthcare waste legislation, industry best practices, and risk management protocols.
- Lead tender submissions, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
- Collaborate with operations, compliance, and logistics teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and service delivery.
- Report regularly on sales performance, pipeline progress, and market intelligence.
Qualifications and Experience Indicator
- Degree in business administration, healthcare management, environmental science, or a related field, (5) five years’ experience in business development, preferably within the medical waste, healthcare services, or environmental compliance industries, Solid understanding of healthcare risk waste management, including regulatory frameworks (e.g. NEMWA, HCRW handling protocols, infection control), B2B sales skills with a track record of meeting and exceeding targets, Excellent communication, negotiation, and client engagement abilities.
- Demonstrable ability to work independently, manage a pipeline, and deliver strategic growth.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently to client sites and healthcare facilities.
Key Competencies Required:
- Existing network of contacts within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or medical supply sectors.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14001, or other relevant Quality Management certifications in medical/environmental services.
- Demonstrable experience responding to tenders from public health departments or private hospital groups.
- Formal training in waste legislation, infection control, or occupational health & safety.
