Job summary

Merand Corbett & Associates is seeking a proactive business development professional to grow client portfolios within the financial services sector in South Africa.

You will support Financial Advisors with prospecting, client engagement and strategy execution, and you will develop dashboards and processes to enhance operating efficiency and AUM growth.

The role requires 3–5 years in financial services, strong analytical and Excel skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' relevant experience in financial services or business development.
  • Experience in Financial Planning is advantageous.
  • CFP® qualification is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial services and business development principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing client portfolios and databases.
  • Support Financial Advisors with prospecting, client engagement and business development activities.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to achieve growth objectives.
  • Assist with client advisory plans and annual review processes.
  • Identify opportunities to increase Assets Under Management and overall practice performance.
  • Assist Financial Advisors with developing value propositions and pricing frameworks.
  • Monitor practice performance, system usage and management information to identify areas for improvement.
  • Analyse data and compare performance to identify best practices and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Drive the adoption of advisory processes and support Advisors in achieving their targets and objectives.
  • Assist with business assessments, dashboards and practice evaluation processes.
  • Provide support during client events, roadshows and other business development initiatives.
  • Assist with change management and the transition of practices towards improved operating models.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Financial Advisors, support teams and key stakeholders.
  • Develop sustainable practice management and operational processes.
  • Provide strategic input while maintaining responsibility for effective operational execution.
Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Commerce, Finance, Investments or a related field.
  • 3–5 years' relevant experience within financial services, business development or a similar role.
  • Experience within Financial Planning will be advantageous.
  • CFP® qualification will be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of financial services and business development principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building, influencing and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong IT and data analysis capabilities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with XPlan and QlikView will be advantageous.
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive and results driven.
  • Ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage change and work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
