Location: Remote, South Africa (UK business hours)
Company: UK audit & advisory practice with a specialist R&D tax and grants division.

About the Role

A senior business development manager role responsible for generating, qualifying and closing mid-to-large advisory engagements in R&D tax credits and innovation grants. You will also build a referrer network, manage partner-sourced pipeline and oversee a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • High-volume outbound calling and structured follow-up to senior finance stakeholders (CFOs, FDs, founders).
  • Full commercial cycle: discovery, qualification, pricing, proposal writing and closing.
  • Build and manage introducer/referrer partnerships (accountants, CF firms, law firms, networks).
  • Manage referral agreements, terms and reporting via Salesforce.
  • Territory planning, account mapping and documented partner plans.
  • Coach and review performance of a junior telesales team member.
  • Support campaigns/webinars and provide ICP and messaging feedback.
  • Maintain strict Salesforce hygiene: forecasting, notes, pipeline accuracy.
  • Hand over closed deals with clear scope, commercials and timelines.
Key Requirements

Essential:

  • 5+ years B2B new business experience (professional services, advisory, consulting, or tax).
  • Proven track record closing mid-large value deals.
  • Strong phone presence and structured discovery skills.
  • Excellent proposal writing, pricing, and commercial negotiation.
  • Advanced Salesforce experience.
  • Excellent communication; reliable remote working setup; able to work UK hours.

Desirable:

  • Experience with R&D tax credits, grants, or specialist tax services.
  • Experience managing introducer/referrer pipelines.
  • Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator and sequencing/dialer tools.

  • 10–15 qualified meetings/month
  • 2–4 new clients/month
  • £250k+ new influenced pipeline per quarter
