Our client, a well-established Supply Chain and Logistics company and a division of a JSE-listed Group, is seeking a driven and strategic Business Development Manager based in Durban.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a results‑oriented professional to play a key role in driving business growth within a fast‑paced logistics environment. You will focus on identifying new opportunities, building and nurturing client relationships, and developing strategies that expand the organisation’s market reach and increase revenue.

With the supply chain and logistics sector being essential to global business performance, this role is pivotal to ensuring efficiency, reliability and continued growth. Your experience in shipping, freight forwarding or logistics operations is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the National Commercial Manager, you will:

  • Identify and research new business opportunities by analysing market trends and potential target markets.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to achieve growth and profitability objectives.
  • Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on sales performance, tracking progress against key metrics and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams including Sales, Marketing and Product Development to ensure project success.
  • Negotiate and close business deals that drive sustainable growth.
  • Maintain accurate engagement data and reporting on the Sales Mobility platform, ensuring high‑quality administration and compliance.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sales, Marketing or Supply Chain
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Sales or Business Development role within a logistics, supply chain or freight environment.
  • Shipping, reefer, containerised, logistics experience may be considered.
  • Proven sales track record with experience in developing and executing growth strategies.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain processes, market dynamics, and competitive environments.
