Job summary

A leading energy solutions provider in South Africa is looking for a Business Development Manager. The role involves developing strategies to expand market presence, nurturing critical partnerships, leading contract negotiations, and overseeing a team to achieve growth objectives. The ideal candidate will possess a BCom Degree and have 3–5 years of relevant business development experience, particularly in the financial services or energy sectors. Strong negotiation skills and a good understanding of EPC and PPA frameworks are essential.

Overview

Please note that this role will require you to travel nationally to engage with partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to expand FNB Energy Solutions’ (FES) footprint in the energy sector.
  • Build and nurture Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) relationships that evolve into long‑term development partnerships.
  • Lead negotiations for Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other critical contracts.
  • Identify market trends and opportunities to position FES as a leader in energy solutions.
  • Oversee a team of professionals to deliver on growth objectives and strategic projects.
  • Develop tactical plans to drive revenue growth.
  • Develop tactical strategy and delivery plans in support of functional strategic objectives in partnership with leadership.
  • Manage market positioning, new business and complex deals.
  • Maximise business portfolio cross‑sell opportunities and strengthen client relationships.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a BCom Degree in Engineering, Law, Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related field (Postgraduate Degree advantageous).
  • 3–5 years relevant experience in a business development leadership role within financial services, energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Good understanding of the product and ability to structure deals within that environment (energy solutions).
  • Strong knowledge of EPC and PPA frameworks.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, negotiation and leadership skills.
  • Ability to drive growth and manage complex stakeholder relationships.
