The Role: Business Development Executive (Freight News)

This role is focused on growing advertising revenue across Freight News' print and digital platforms. You'll be responsible for identifying and securing new business, managing a renewal portfolio, and building strong client relationships. You'll work closely with the internal team to ensure seamless campaign delivery while meeting clear revenue targets. Occasional travel will be required to meet with clients and attend industry events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience, ideally in advertising or media
  • Sell advertising solutions (online and print) to new clients in the freight and logistics sector
  • Research and identify new prospects, make contact, and pitch tailored advertising solutions
  • Manage and grow a renewal portfolio, maintaining and increasing ad spend
  • Maintain accurate daily records of client interactions and pipelines on CRM
  • Meet monthly sales targets: R200 000 combined (R50 000 new business, R150 000 renewals)
  • Attend networking events, client meetings, and travel as needed to secure business
  • Work with the ad coordinator to ensure timely delivery of advertising materials
  • Follow all booking and advertising deadlines and sign-off proceduresRepresent the company with professionalism, upholding its reputation and values
About You
  • Matric required; marketing diploma or degree advantageous
  • Proven sales experience, ideally in media, advertising, or B2B environments
  • Experience or interest in freight, logistics, or supply chain sectors is beneficial
  • Confident, articulate communicator with strong presentation skills
  • CRM-savvy and comfortable with admin-heavy processes and reporting
  • Target-driven with a track record of exceeding sales goals
  • Able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Strong writing skills for proposals and client correspondence
