Job summary

A leading global reinsurer is seeking a Business Development Actuary to join its team in Johannesburg. The role involves developing client relationships, designing reinsurance solutions, and contributing to business growth. Ideal candidates will have nearly or fully qualified Actuary status, at least 5 years of experience in insurance or reinsurance, and strong analytical and communication skills. This position offers an annual salary package.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with clients and partners.
  • Work with internal teams to design and price reinsurance solutions that meet profitability and capital efficiency targets.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, proposals, and marketing materials to support business growth.
  • Monitor and manage client portfolios, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Draft and manage treaty documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal standards.
  • Collaborate with international teams to stay informed of emerging trends in insurance, technology, and risk management.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Job Experience and Skills Required
  • Nearly or fully qualified Actuary (FASSA or equivalent)
