Job summary

iOCO is seeking an experienced Business/Data Analyst with strong expertise in data contracts, data lineage and data integration. You will work with Solution and Data Architects across multiple projects to define how data is structured, exchanged and integrated.

The role focuses on establishing data contracts and documenting end-to-end data flows and lineage to ensure consistency, traceability and alignment across the technology landscape. Location: Johannesburg; 12-month contract.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst or Technical Business Analyst in complex technology environments.
• Experience with data contracts and agreements between data producers and consumers.
• Document data lineage and end-to-end data movement across systems.
• Experience analysing data integrations across multiple systems and platforms.
• Understanding APIs, databases, data pipelines and integration patterns.
• Create data mappings, interface specifications and technical documentation.
• Strong requirements gathering and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work with architects, developers, data engineers and business stakeholders.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Experience in enterprise data environments or large transformation programmes.
• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
• Understanding of APIs, ETL/ELT, data warehouses/lakes and integration platforms.
• Experience with data governance, metadata or master data management.
• Familiarity with modelling or documentation tools like Visio, Lucidchart, Confluence or Enterprise Architect.
• SQL knowledge and ability to interrogate data structures is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Map and document end-to-end data lineage, including data sources, transformations, integrations and target systems.
• Analyse existing data flows and identify gaps, dependencies, inconsistencies and potential integration risks.
• Document data integration requirements, interfaces, mappings and transformation rules.
• Facilitate discussions between business, architecture, development and data teams to ensure a common understanding of data requirements.
• Translate business and technical requirements into clear data specifications and supporting documentation.
• Support the definition of data standards, terminology and governance requirements across projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation of system-to-system integrations and data movement.
• Assist project teams in understanding the impact of changes to upstream and downstream systems.
• Support architects and technical teams during solution design, development and implementation.
• Ensure data requirements and integration documentation remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

Your Expertise:

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst or Technical Business Analyst within complex technology environments.
• Strong practical experience with data contracts and defining agreements between data producers and consumers.
• Strong understanding of data lineage and the ability to document data movement from source through transformation to consumption.
• Experience analysing and documenting data integrations across multiple systems and platforms.
• Ability to understand technical architecture, APIs, databases, data pipelines and integration patterns.
• Experience creating data mappings, interface specifications, process flows and technical documentation.
• Strong requirements gathering, analysis and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively with architects, developers, data engineers, business stakeholders and project teams.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience working within enterprise data environments or large transformation programmes.
• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern data architectures.
