Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Quantity Surveyor for Conradie Park, Cape Town.
The successful incumbent will be responsible for assisting in budget calculations, managing project deadlines, adhering to the governing rules and regulations, and performing proper client and employee relations actions.
Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates and to candidates who are currently based in the Western Cape.
This position is available for Conradie Park in Cape Town and will be on a Limited Duration Contract ("LDC") basis for the duration of the project.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of cost feasibility, approximate estimates, cost planning, Bills of Quantities, Specification and Schedule of Rates, all in accordance with relevant standards.
- Abstracting measurement from drawings for inclusion in monthly certificate.
- Assessing, Managing and processing of Subcontractor Payments.
- Physical measurement on site for payment of subcontractors and for monthly reporting.
- Compiling and submission of monthly valuation to clients.
- Taking stock on site for inclusion in monthly valuation.
- Pricing of Site instructions and new items.
- Liaison with Consultants regarding subcontractor monthly claims.
- Work with Microsoft Excel, Word and Construction Computer Software (CCS).
- Obtaining quotes from various subcontractors for tender purposes.
- Liaising with various suppliers.
- Re-measurement of all trades.
- Data gathering for cost reports.
- Material, plant and labour monitoring and reconciliation.
- Price analysis and estimation.
- Monthly claims for payment.
- Concluding of final accounts.
- Compiling of monthly cost reports.
Qualifications
A degree / diploma in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management / Building Science
Experience
A minimum of 5 years' experience as a QS within the construction industry
Other Requirements
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be a South African Citizen.
Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook).
- Ability to carry out instructions issued by the Quantity Surveyors, Site Agents, and Engineers.
- Ability to read, understand, and organise BOQs.
- Demonstrate effective project management skills in all tasks.
- Ability to compile income and expenditure reports.
- A good understanding of building materials.
- Must have a working knowledge of CCS estimating and planning modules.
- Working knowledge of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations.
- Good working knowledge of various conditions of contract specifications (e.g., FIDIC, GCC, NEC & JBCC).
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good understanding of feasibility studies.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of the team, while exercising own judgement.
- Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established deadline.
