Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil/Bridge Engineer in Cape Town to design and plan bridges, culverts, and related structures in line with TMH7 and international standards. The role includes rehabilitation design, supervising drawings, and preparing contract documentation.

The candidate will inspect bridges and culverts, prepare design reports, and apply QMS. AECOM encourages experience with North America and Australia and requires at least four years in relevant fields.

Qualifications

• Requires degree in Civil Engineering with postgraduate study as a plus.
• Experience in design of bridges and other civil structures.
• Experience with inspection of bridges and culverts.
• Experience with international regulations and standards (AASTHO, AREMA, Aus-Codes, BS, etc.) is advantageous.
• Proficiency in structural design software (Midas, Sofistik, RM Bridge, CSiBridge).
• Experience in North America and Australia is favourable.

Responsibilities

• Design and planning of new bridges, culverts, and other road and rail structures per TMH7 and codes.
• Rehabilitation and upgrading design of existing bridges and drainage structures.
• Oversee preparation of construction drawings and project specifications.
• Inspection of bridges and culverts; prepare design reports.
• Apply the AECOM Quality Management System (QMS) in all work.
