Branch Consultant/Financial Advisor - Richards Bay

Who are we?

SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group, focusing on retail products and group schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Promote Sanlam Retail Mass (SRM)’s products and increase market share by:
  • Providing sound financial advice and high-quality client service in a branch setting.
  • Creating opportunities for client optimization and cross-selling of value-added services.
  • Understand SRM product ranges and client needs to offer suitable products that meet their financial goals in an affordable manner.
  • Update clients on new or changed products and manage their portfolios accordingly.
  • Validate client details according to product and regulatory requirements and submit new business through appropriate channels.
  • Conduct due diligence on clients to identify and flag risks.
  • Manage daily appointments, prioritizing them effectively, and accommodate walk-in clients.
  • In-branch client service and retention

    1. Service and manage all client profiles to ensure retention:
    • Send reminders, follow-up, and address queries to support clients.
    • Manage NTUs (clients Not Taken Up) by implementing controls and corrective actions.
    • Maintain client payment persistency for the branch and clients.
  • Assess client risk profiles to proactively identify support needs:
    • Discuss alternative payment options with clients and ensure proper processing and documentation.
  • Provide in-branch service aligned with experience standards:
    • Guide clients through policy cancellations and offer alternatives.
    • Resolve client queries or escalate them appropriately, providing ongoing feedback.

    Quality, compliance, and development

    1. Adhere to compliance and quality standards and keep updated on registration, product knowledge, and CPD points.
    2. Identify risks and flag potential fraud.
    3. Maintain records of advice and activities according to regulations and report to stakeholders.

    Monthly planning and reporting

    1. Report daily activities using relevant platforms.
    2. Gather data for weekly and monthly reports.
    3. Perform ad-hoc tasks as required by the Retail Branch Manager.

    Qualifications

    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • RE5 advantageous
    • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements.
    • Class of Business training (to be completed within 12 months of employment)

    Knowledge and Experience

    Relevant experience in financial advising and knowledge of retail banking products.

    Skills and Competencies

    Strong communication, client service, and compliance skills.
