Overview

This Role is Open to all South Africans. Remote Bookkeeper (full time contractor). Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (New York City Time). 30-40 hours per week, depending on agreement with the supervisor. Salary: R17 000 - R25 000 Basic salary per month (Based on experience).

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to manage the financial operations of several condominium buildings located in New York City. This is a fully remote position that requires strong English communication skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. The role involves managing property financial data, reconciling bank accounts, producing reports, and collaborating with clients, accountants, and vendors. This is a client-facing role (occasionally) that demands assertiveness and clear communication.

Responsibilities
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure all records are accurate.
  • Liaise with accountants, CPAs, tax attorneys, vendors, tenants, and property owners to resolve bookkeeping issues.
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow management, highlighting potential financial issues proactively.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports and assist with year-end financials.
  • Track and maintain special assessments, homeowner fines, and miscellaneous charges.
  • Transition financial data from previous management companies into current systems.
  • Develop expertise in New York City condominium and cooperative financial practices.
Requirements
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) - essential for client and vendor communication.
  • Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within property management, real estate, or HOA/condo associations.
  • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, reporting, and account management.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using accounting and property management software.
  • Assertive and professional in communication.
  • Available to work 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST (New York time).
