The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring timely capturing, posting, reconciliation, compliance and reporting. You will work closely with the outsourced accounts team and other departments to ensure the alignment with other areas and smooth day to day financial functioning of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and postings using Xero, HubDocs, SimplePay
- Record and reconcile accounts payable and receivable & associated accruals
- Rolling cashflow management
- Process and monitor invoices, payments and expenses
- Peform bank & credit card reconciliations
- Assist with month-end, quarterly and year end close out processes
- Statutory returns : PAYE, VAT, Provisional Tax
- Support payroll processing and ensure accurate recording of payroll journals and associated reconciliations
- Liaise with external accountants as required
- Maintain orderly financial filing systems (One Drive)
- Maintain and develop Budget Reports and associated Activity Based Costing reports (across projects and Divisions)
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in accounting records
- Provide ad hoc financial reports and analysis to management (including Vendor Reconciliations, Commission Statements and suchlike)
- General business administration and business support
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Matric with FORMAL accounting or bookkeeping qualification
- Working knowledge of XERO or similar accounting software
- Experience with other cloud-based financial tools is desirable
- Understanding of basic / intermediate accounting principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
