Job Title: Bookkeeper

Location: First Floor, Office 4, 13 The Boulevard, Westway Office Park, Durban, KZN

Reports to: Head of Controlling

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our finance team in Durban. The role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the finance department with reporting and reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.

  • Prepare and file VAT returns (local accountant to review).

  • Review bank reconciliations.

  • Prepare accruals, deferrals, provisions, and journal entries.

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulations.

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial support.

Requirements

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Grade 12 (minimum).

  • Bookkeeping/Accounting certificate (B-degree in Accounting advantageous).

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, accounting practices, and finance policies.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ hands-on bookkeeping experience.
